Service Description: The Bureau of Survey and Mapping (BSM) receives many requests from surveyors for mean high water or safe upland line elevations. This map tracks safe upland elevations as provided by BSM. These elevations are required by some counties to establish setbacks for construction and septic system permits. A safe upland line is not the true boundary.
