Service Description: The 2009 Legislature amended Section 514.023, Florida Statutes to require that DEP investigate and determine if any DOH issued Swim Advisory Notices that were the result of elevated levels of fecal coliform or enterococci bacteria were due to an abnormal event (sewage spill) at a wastewater treatment facility or its collection system. Swim Advisory Notices issued by DOH require notifying the appropriate DEP district office to determine if there were any sewage spills within a 1 mile radius of the advisory which could account for the elevated levels of bacteria in the surface water samples. This layer provides the location of all active DOH monitoring sites as well as the DEP permitted wastewater treatment facilities in Florida.
